How to sign up as a driver or employee
Six steps to join your company's carpooling, fill in the mobility survey and — if you drive — start accumulating CAE benefits.
The 6 steps
Steps 1–3 are initial setup (10 min). Steps 4–6 are regular use.
Download the Kidstoride app
Available on iOS and Android. If you already have an account (e.g. to take your children to activities), use the same one — no need to register again.
💡 One app, one account. The Work section appears automatically when your company invites you.
Set up your home address
In the app profile, enter your home address. It is essential for the carpooling algorithm to find nearby colleagues.
💡 Your address is stored anonymised (max. precision ~500 m) — no one sees your exact home address.
Accept your company's invitation
Your HR manager will send an invitation to your email. Open the app → Profile → Work and the company will appear automatically linked.

Fill in the mobility survey
About 2 minutes: how you get to work, distance, in-office days. These are the data required by Law 9/2025 for the PMST.
💡 The data is statistical and anonymised. Your company only sees aggregates, never your individual response.
Activate your carpooling profile
Indicate whether you go as a driver, passenger or both — your schedule and in-office days. The system will look for compatible colleagues.
💡 As a driver you can set the maximum detour you accept (default 15 min). As a passenger, just accept or reject proposals.
Receive and respond to your matches
The system suggests colleagues who live nearby and have compatible schedules. Accept or reject with a tap.
💡 Matches expire after 7 days if not responded to. When both parties accept, the carpooling is confirmed.
If you're going to drive, you'll want to know this
Drivers contribute to generating CAE certificates. Your company decides how the compensation is applied.
Generate CAE certificates for the company
Each shared ride accumulates certified energy savings (TRA040). The company can choose to redistribute part of the compensation to drivers.
No big detours
The algorithm only suggests routes with a detour less than what you set. No one will ask you to make a 20 km detour.
Automatic check-in
The app detects via geofencing when you arrive at work. You don't need to do anything manually for the CAEs to accumulate.
Same app as for your children
If you already use Kidstoride to take your children to activities, the Work module is added in the same application.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to pay anything?
No. The Work module is free for the employee. The company is the one who contracts the service.
What if my company doesn't use Kidstoride Work yet?
Share this page with your HR manager. They can register the company in less than 10 minutes at kidstoride.work.
Can my company see when I arrive or what time I leave home?
No. Your company only sees aggregated statistical data. Your exact schedule, route or home address are not accessible to HR.
What happens if I reject a match?
The match disappears from your list. The system may suggest other colleagues in the next matching round.
Can I be a driver some days and a passenger on others?
Yes. When setting up your carpooling profile, choose the "Both" role. The system will suggest matches based on daily availability.
Are the ~€500 CAE guaranteed?
It is an average estimate for drivers with 3+ passengers/week for a full year. The amount varies by distance and frequency.
